Who makes the decision on which roads are bad enough to be repairer or reconstructed. Are there municipal or provincial governmental influences? Are there connections between decision-makers and regions? Is it a regular timeline of assessing and scheduling? Is the decision to repair a road dependent on tax-payer’s complaints?

Decision-making

This was the very first course I took in my master’s program. I needed special permission to take it outside of being accepted into the program. This was my thermometer to measure if I was able and interested in entering the Master’s program at Brandon University.

Well – it hooked me! There were many factors in my life that led to the decision to take my Masters – kids becoming more independent, moving into a different position, becoming a “senior” teacher on staff, and more! I could have easily made a different decision or take on a different challenge, but this course hooked me.

The reading, collaboration and feedback refreshed the reason I got into teaching. It is so easy to become busy with content delivery, assessment and planning that I was forgetting about the “other”. This course reminded me that I was a curriculum-maker, not the the deliverer of content. I started to observe the mileu that goes into teaching and learning. Critical topics were discussed at a deeper level than I had considered in a long while.

I loved this essay. I was encouraged to experiment with autobiographical narrative and to explore areas of my passion. I was introduced to Maxine Greene and some of the other resources that I listed elsewhere on this site.
